Senior Economist, Team Leader - THE REVIEW AND UPDATE OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME AND SME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME

Expert to be recruited within the AfDB funded project "THE REVIEW AND UPDATE OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME AND SME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME". The intended start date is June 2021 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 8 months from this date.  

The objectives of the project  will be achieved by supporting Business Botswana, a private sector business association to implement activities under the Botswana Private Sector Development Strategy (PSDS), which is the main framework for support to private sector development in Botswana. The overarching objective is to strengthen small stock, tourism and horticulture industries through a number of interventions aimed at improving business linkages and partnerships, strengthening institutional capacities of associations, and strengthening the business development market. 

Description of Role

The Team leader will be responsible for the overall delivery of the project, providing guidance and technical quality control for the technical inputs, and serve as the primary point of contact for Business Botswana.

Qualification

The Team leader is expected to have a minimum qualification of a master’s degree in Economics, Business administration or related field.

Core Skills and Experience Required

  • At least 15 years’ experience in private sector Development;
  • Working knowledge of both public and private sector and at least 10 years management level experience;
  • Experience in leading diverse teams;
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in integrating reports from different specialists, providing quality control, and effectively managing cross-sector professional teams in similar projects;
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English and strong leadership skills.
